The Gas Fume Chamber is designed to evaluate the color fastness of textiles and leather materials when exposed to combustion gases, including nitrogen oxides generated by natural gas or butane combustion. Samples are tested alongside a control fabric until the control reaches the specified fading standard, with discoloration assessed using a grey scale card.

The tester can continue repeated test cycles until the sample reaches the required color change, providing accurate and repeatable results for quality control, material certification, and R&D.

Principle of Operation

Textile and control samples are placed in the test chamber and exposed to gas combustion smoke simultaneously. The color change of the control fabric is monitored, and the sample’s fading is compared using a grey scale card. If no color change is detected after one test cycle, the test can continue for the specified number of cycles until the desired fading standard is reached.
