Uzbekistan hosts the 5th Traditional Textiles Festival - Textile News
The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, the Fergana Regional Government, the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan and other institutions jointly organized the 5th International Festival of Traditional Textiles in the eastern city of Margilan, Uzbekistan recently, according to the recent news from the Uzbek government website.
The festival promoted the traditional textiles and textile crafts of Uzbekistan and showcased products with modern design concepts in the form of fashion shows, plays, musical performances, town fairs and other rich activities in the hope of increasing product awareness.
The textile festival event invited representatives of many governments and enterprises from the United States, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Turkey and other countries to participate. At the opening ceremony, the Ugandan side introduced traditional textiles and textile crafts, and presented products with modern design concepts through fashion shows, theatrical and musical performances, and town fairs, in order to raise awareness of the products.
Uzbekistan is an important country along the "Belt and Road" route. According to statistics, in 2021, China's total trade in textiles and clothing to Uzbekistan will be 1.52 billion U.S. dollars. Among them, China's textile exports to Uzbekistan amounted to 850 million U.S. dollars, mainly in semi-finished products such as fabrics, accounting for more than 70%; imports of textiles from Uzbekistan amounted to 670 million U.S. dollars, the vast majority of which were cotton yarn products.
