Analysis of fogging performance test method for automotive interior trim parts
Fogging Tester is applicable to the evaluation of the evaporation of volatile components of automotive interior materials such as automotive interior plastic parts, polyurethane, textiles, leather, adhesives, nonwovens, thermoplastic elastomers and other materials at high temperatures, and can also be used for the determination of high-temperature fogging of xenon lamps in front of the car.

Schematic diagram of the structure of the fogging test automotive device.

The sample is placed under the sample press at the bottom of the glass beaker and immersed in a constant temperature oil bath. The beaker is covered with an oil and high temperature resistant fluorine seal, on which the fogging carrier (G-position), filter paper and cooling plate are placed in sequence. The material released from the leather sample at high temperature condenses on the cooling plate.
The test equipment for all three methods is the same except for position G. For the reflection and fogging methods, the G section is a fogged glass plate. The test results are obtained by measuring the turbidity or atomization value of the glass plate before and after the test. In the weight analysis method, position G is an aluminum foil with a larger circular glass plate of 3 mm thickness on top. The test results of this method were obtained by measuring the amount of condensate formed on the cold surface.
By fogging test automotive, it is possible to control the volatile substances in automotive interior materials, thus effectively reducing environmental pollution inside the car. Therefore, the fogging test has become an important means of controlling product quality for automotive manufacturing enterprises and automotive interior decoration manufacturing enterprises. fogging tester automotive interior trim parts fogging test testing instrument.
Environmental requirements.

As long as the constant temperature tank and cooling plate can work at the required temperature, the atomization process of the test does not have high requirements for the external environment. The environment fundamentally has no effect on it. However, aluminum foil, glass plates and other fog carriers have strict environmental requirements, and even the slightest change can have a significant impact.
In almost all standards, fog glass plates are required to be placed at a temperature of 23°C ± 2°C and conditioned at 50% ± 5% relative humidity in a windless, light-free environment. It is inevitable that the fogging carrier will have some condensed water. Ambient temperature and humidity play a critical role in water evaporation, which is difficult to control effectively. The uncertainty of environmental control will directly affect the accuracy of the final test results.
In the standards DIN75201, ISO6452 and QB/T2728, it is stipulated that the fogged aluminum foil should be processed in a desiccator. In this case, the user only needs to include the ambient temperature in the condensation and no longer needs to consider humidity and airflow. As a result, the conditioned environment of the fogged aluminum foil is more easily controlled.
Test result calibration.
Since the fogging test operation process is complex and susceptible to environmental changes, three standards, DIN75201, ISO6452 and QB/T2728, provide the same calibration method to assess the correctness of the final test results.
For the reflection method, 10±0.1g of DIDP is placed in a beaker immersed in a constant temperature bath at 100°C with a cooling plate of 21°C. The final result should be within 77±3%. Otherwise, the test is considered unsuccessful. The user should find out the reason and retest.
The weight method puts 10±0.1g of DOP into a beaker immersed in a constant temperature bath at 100°C with a cooling plate at 21°C. The final result should be within 4.9±0.25mg. Otherwise, the test is considered unsuccessful. The user should find out the reason and retest.
The fogging test of automotive interior decoration materials can control the volatile substances in automotive interior decoration materials, thus effectively reducing the environmental pollution inside the car.
