Which light accelerates ageing?
Excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, particularly UV radiation from the sun, is known to accelerate aging of the skin. The UV radiation can damage the DNA in skin cells and cause premature aging symptoms such as wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and a loss of skin elasticity. This process is commonly referred to as photoaging.
There are two types of UV radiation that reach the Earth's surface: UVA and UVB. UVA penetrates the deeper layers of the skin and contributes to the development of wrinkles and other signs of aging. UVB radiation primarily affects the outer layers of the skin and is the main cause of sunburn. Both UVA and UVB radiation can contribute to the acceleration of skin aging.
It's worth noting that other factors, such as genetics, lifestyle choices (such as smoking and diet), and environmental factors, can also influence the aging process. Protecting your skin from excessive sun exposure by wearing sunscreen, protective clothing, and seeking shade can help minimize the effects of UV radiation and slow down the aging process.
