Türkiye's apparel exports hit $4.847 billion in the first quarter
In the first quarter of 2023, men's clothing will have the lowest share in Turkey's total clothing exports.

However, since 2021, there has been an upward trend year by year.
During this period, Turkey exported garments worth 4.847 billion U.S. dollars, of which men's clothing exports were worth 1.198 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 24.72% of the total.
Women's wear has the largest share.
Menswear had the lowest share of Turkey's total apparel exports to the world in the first quarter of this year. However, since 2021, the export of men's clothing has shown an upward trend year by year. Recent trade data shows that Turkey exported garments worth $4.847 billion between January and March 2023. Among them, the export value of men's clothing was 1.198 billion US dollars, accounting for 24.72% of the total export value.
Exports of women's clothing accounted for the largest share of total shipments. In the first quarter of this year, the export value of women's clothing reached 1.473 billion US dollars, accounting for 38.65% of the total clothing export value of 4.847 billion US dollars. During the same period, unisex clothing accounted for a significant share, or 34.77%, of total exports, with shipments valued at $1.685 billion.
Although menswear has the lowest share of total apparel exports at 24.72%, menswear has been showing growth since the COVID-19 pandemic eased in 2021. In the first quarter of 2021, Turkey's men's clothing exports amounted to 814.198 million US dollars, a decrease of 1.65% from the previous year's first quarter of 2020. However, it grew by 28.28% to $1,044.43 million in the first quarter of 2022 and further increased by 14.75% to $1,198.54 million in the first quarter of 2023.
Among the different clothing categories, trousers and shorts became the largest category, accounting for 24.44% of Turkey's total clothing exports to the world. The freight value of trousers and shorts was $1,184.67 million in the first quarter of this year. Other important categories included T-shirts with an export value of US$ 788.034 million (16.26%), shirts with an export value of US$ 600.793 million (12.39%), skirts with an export value of US$ 505.059 million (10.42%), and jerseys with an export value of US$ 441.568 (9. 11%), socks $291.04 million (6.01%), jackets and blazers $215.546 million (4.45%), baby clothing $89.918 million (1.85%), and suits $8.6475 million (1.78%).
