Uruguay: Wool exports hit record high in April
According to reports, Uruguay recently announced that the amount of wool exported in April this year hit a record high. Wool exports totaled 13.65 million kilograms in April, up nearly 70 percent from a year earlier, according to Uruguay's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
Uruguay is the third largest wool producing country in South America, and about two-thirds of the country is used for animal husbandry. Wool exports are an important part of Uruguay's economy, with an annual export volume of approximately US$60 million.

The Uruguayan agricultural sector stated that this growth was mainly due to the increase in demand in the international market, especially the strong demand in the Chinese market. As Chinese consumers pay more and more attention to high-quality wool products, the sales volume of Uruguayan wool in the Chinese market is also increasing.
Not only that, but in the past ten years, Uruguay has invested a lot in improving the sustainability and quality of wool production. These investments include improving livestock infrastructure, training the agricultural and livestock workforce, and promoting sustainable pasture management.
In general, Uruguay's wool export record high shows the development strength of Uruguay's agriculture and animal husbandry, and also provides Chinese consumers with more choices of high-quality wool products.
