(2)Test apparatus:There are many kinds of fabric flat grinding apparatus. At present, Martindale instruments are widely used in the testing industry, so the flat abrasion method is often referred to as the Martindale friction testing machine method.
(3)Test principle:A circular sample mounted in a Martindale Abrasion And Pilling Tester sample jig is rubbed against an abrasive (i.e. a standard fabric) under a defined load, and the sample jig is free to rotate about its axis perpendicular to the horizontal plane. The abrasion resistance of the leather is determined from the total number of rubs damaged by the sample.
(4) Test method:During the test, a specimen of a certain size is placed in contact with a standard abrasive under a specified pressure, so that the specimen moves relative to the abrasive and the specimen wears uniformly in several directions.
From the two test methods described above, the results of the wear test methods differ for different materials.The MARTINDALE friction test method indicates wear resistance through changes in endpoints and appearance.
There is little significance in the test results obtained by comparing different materials and the same experimental method, but these results lead to the same conclusions. Therefore, any method can independently quantify the abrasion resistance of a material. Compared to the results of these tests, natural leather materials are generally softer and less abrasion resistant. Coated leather is hard, less abrasive and has good wear resistance.
