How to operate the Air Permeability Tester?
The Air Permeability Tester measures the air permeability of textile, clothing, non-woven and other materials; the fabric is pressed onto the selected test head and the instrument generates a continuous air flow through the specimen and produces a certain pressure difference between the two sides of the specimen, within a very short time, the system automatically calculates the air permeability of the specimen.
I. Test significance
Air permeability is a physical indicator of air permeability in the sample being tested, mainly for porous materials such as textiles, sponges, leather, etc. Even for clothing, the size of breathability should vary to ensure that the clothes are comfortable to wear, e.g. summer clothes should be more breathable to have good heat dissipation, while winter coats should be less breathable to improve warmth. Therefore, the appropriate degree of breathability is one of the prerequisites for the fabric to have good performance.
II. Instruments and Equipment
YG461E-Ⅱ Automatic Air Permeability Tester
Conforms to the following standards
BS 5636 JIS L1096-A DIN 53887 ASTM D737 ASTM D3574 EN ISO 9237 GB/T 5453 EDANA 140.2; TAPPI T251; EDANA 140.1; ASTM D737; AFNOR G07-111; ISO 7231 etc.
III. Test basis
At present, the test method of air permeability mainly includes two kinds of methods, which are constant flow measuring pressure difference method and constant pressure difference measuring flow method.
IV. Test Principle
The YG461E-Ⅱ fully automatic Air Permeability Tester can be used to test the permeability of a sample in two ways
V. Constant flow measuring differential pressure method.
After the specimen is clamped, the airflow is adjusted so that the airflow perpendicular to the specimen is stabilised at a constant flow rate, and then the pressure difference between the two sides of the specimen is tested under this condition to calculate the air flow resistance and other parameters.
Sixth, the fixed differential pressure flow measurement method.
After the specimen is clamped, adjust the pressure to form a constant pressure difference between the two sides of the specimen, by measuring the airflow through a given area of the specimen vertically within a certain period of time, to calculate the air permeability of the specimen and other parameters.
VII. Test procedure
Cut 10 pieces of 12 cm diameter specimens from the surface of the fabric sample.
Clamp the cut pieces to the air permeability tester.
Adjust the pressure control valve to adjust the pressure difference between the two sides of the specimen. When the pressure difference between the two sides of the specimen reaches the set value, the test stops and the equipment automatically displays the air flow through the specimen at the set pressure difference.
VIII. Conclusion
Breathability is an important performance of the fabric, and the use of fabric performance is closely related. In this paper, we have introduced a cost-effective testing equipment, YG461E-Ⅱ Automatic Air Permeability Tester, which is professionally used for air permeability testing through testing the air permeability of a fabric for garment making. It has the advantages of wide range of application, simple operation, high test accuracy and repeatability of test results.
