How do I operate a Martindale abrasion tester?
The Martindale Abrasion Tester is used to test the abrasion and pilling properties of fabrics of various constructions. The test specimen is subjected to low-pressure, continuous commutation abrasion against a certain abrasive material and the degree of wear and pilling can be evaluated in comparison with standard parameters. Many users do not know much about its operation, the following Standard Group (HK) Ltd. will introduce to you.

2、Operating procedures
2.1、Specimen preparation
Cut a 38mm diameter round specimen from the sample with a sampler.
The specimen should be placed in a constant temperature and humidity environment before testing.
2.2. Place a piece of 140mm standard felt and 140mm standard abrasive fabric on each grinding table in turn.
2.3. Flatten the fabric and felt with a pressing weight, fasten the circular clamp and remove the weight afterwards, avoid curling the fabric when installing the specimen. The specimen will be installed in the specimen folder, if the weight of the specimen is lighter than 500g/㎡, need to pad a new piece of polyurethane foam, the weight of the specimen is heavier than 500g/㎡, it is not necessary to pad the foam liner.
2.4. Place the specimen clip on the abrasive table and add the required pressure, 9±0.2kpa for wearing fabrics and 12±0.3kpa for decorative fabrics. Preset the appropriate number of times and start the machine.
2.5, the instrument stops, observe the specimen, estimate the number of times to continue to rub, when close to the end of the experiment, reduce the number of rubbing, need to use scissors to carefully cut off the specimen on the hair particles produced.
3、Caution
Replace the abrasive and foam after each test, and test more than 50 at a time.
